  • AN ATK IS FOR LIFE, NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS!

It's good to know that, if you buy an ATK for your child for Christmas, it won't be in pieces by Boxing Day.  With a body built from high grade 12mm ply, strong polypropylene wheels with all terrain tyres and heavy duty galvanised and powder-coated metalwork, the ATK is built to last. Even the nuts and bolts are stainless steel so that they won't rust. Supplied with a 12 month guarantee we are proud of the way that it's been designed and built and you can also be confident that we're always on the end of a 'phone to help you should the...

  • THE WOODEN WONDER

We're proud of our wooden go-kart.  Made from top quality ply the ATK is strong, durable and a very traditional in its construction, so much more tactile than its all-metal counterparts.   Plywood is a wonderful material; its laminated construction make incredibly strong but, at the same time, interesting to look at.   It also harks back to one of the best aeroplanes Britain has ever built.  Nicknamed the "Wooden wonder" the De Havilland Mosquito was one of the fastest, most effective aeroplanes of WWII and was built entirely from plywood.  How cool is that?!

  • WHERE IT ALL STARTED.....

When we first came up with the idea for the ATK it was born out of the fact that we wanted to share some of the fun that we had on our toys when we were children.  Back in the day, long before Play Stations were invented, toys were a lot more basic but no less fun.  The first toy that sticks in my mind was a vintage pedal car which I was reunited with earlier this week at the Haynes Motor Museum. OK, it wasn't my actual pedal car which was British racing green, but otherwise it was identical....

  • THE GOODWOOD REVIVAL 2014 - IT WAS GREAT!

The Goodwood Revival Festival was as good as ever this year, helped by amazing weather. As usual the visitors entered the spirit of the occasion getting dressed up in their period costumes: WWII uniforms were popular too: Nostalgia was the theme of the day with an amazing collection of classic cars: As always aeroplanes featured heavily too, this year featuring two Lancaster bombers which was a real treat: And the whole occasion was made even more fun by the costumed "extras" who provided a little glamour on the day: It was also good to see that children's toys of the era...

  • GOODWOOD REVIVAL MEETING 2014

As I explained in an early blog, the ATK All Terrain Kart was born out of nostalgic memories of having fun on my wooden soapbox in the 1960s. Those were the days when you could build a go-kart yourself with a set of Silver Cross wheels and axles, a few planks of wood and some bent nails.  Brakes were rare and you relied on the soles of your shoes to stop you, something that didn't go down well with your Mum! If, like me, you're into anything with wheels then you would love the Goodwood Revival Meeting on 12-14 September....

  • RECONNECTING OUR CHILDREN WITH NATURE

Project Wild Thing is an organisation set up by a team of people committed to reconnecting our children with nature.  They recently organised a Swarm at Ashton Court in Bristol which, on the first day, hosted a conference for teachers, web developers, marketing specialists etc who were asked to help develop Natures Marketing Department in an effort to re-sell what is all around us and encourage parents to get their children back playing outside and away from their PS4s! This is their video of the event.  Please take a few minutes to watch it; it's really rather good and even...
